We know that the Toyota brand is synonymous with reliability and durability. The Toyota Land Cruiser, an icon of the road, is back in Canada for 2024. Let’s take a look at its technical specifications and key features.
Before it disappeared from our roads almost 35 years ago, the Land Cruiser was powered by a turbocharged V6 engine. For the 2024 model year, the all-new Toyota SUV will benefit from an i-Force Max hybrid engine. In fact, it will be a 2.4 L turbocharged 4-cylinder paired with a 48 hp electric motor and a 1.87 kWh NiMH battery. This hybrid mill will develop a total of 326 hp and a very generous 465 lb-ft of torque.
Moreover, the Land Cruiser will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox,
“followed by a four-wheel drive system with a two-speed transfer case and lockable center and rear differentials”.
This hybrid powertrain will also enable the Japanese manufacturer’s all-new SUV to tow up to 6,000 lbs. A trailer hitch is standard on all versions.
The Toyota Land Cruiser for sale will be available in three versions, each more distinctive than the other:
The 1958 version will be the most symbolic, featuring round LED headlights and a retro grille with the word “Toyota” clearly visible. The other versions will be offered with rectangular headlamps evoking the Land Cruiser FJ62 model, which was produced from 1984 to 1989.
In the top-of-the-range version (Land Cruiser First Edition), you’ll get heated and ventilated leather seats with lumbar support, a 14-speaker JBL audio system, head-up display, digital rearview mirror, roof rack, protective side rails, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires and more.
Finally, the Toyota Land Cruiser Canada is the ultimate off-road vehicle, and its return continues that tradition. As Toyota Canada notes,
“An all-new front stabilizer bar uncoupling system, standard on the Land Cruiser is First Edition, increases flexibility at the touch of a button”.
This muscular SUV with an adventurous character can accommodate five occupants in a modern, up-to-date interior. Not only is it in the tradition of modernity, but Toyota’s Land Cruiser also benefits from the very latest generation of the Japanese manufacturer’s multimedia system. This provides you with innovative functions, such as real-time, wireless updates.
Depending on the version, you’ll be treated to an 8 or 12.3-inch touchscreen, and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is certified.
Furthermore, the push-button Smart Key system is standard on the new Toyota Land Cruiser. You’ll also be able to experience the optional Digital Key function, which connects to your smartphone to allow vehicle entry, tailgate access as well as starting the Toyota SUV. This Digital Key can also be shared with other people in your entourage.
All versions of the 2024 Land Cruiser are equipped with the famous Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. This is a generous package of features:
In short, Toyota’s all-new vehicle is technological and safe. And you wouldn’t expect anything less from a brand known for its relevance and forward-thinking.
The only indication we have of the price of the new 2024 Land Cruiser comes from the United States. On the other side of the border, the starting price of the Toyota SUV is 55,000 USD. We’ll be in touch shortly with further details, including the date of its arrival in dealerships.
